Our client asked if we could design him a new beach house on edge of the Firth of Thames.
The site posed some challenges.
Access only from the south.
Wind from the East and South West.
Road noise.
In repsonse to this we proposed a new home with a linear concrete tilt slab wall facing south. This reflects road noise away from the house.
A sheltered courtyard to the north allows outdoor activity when there is wind from the East or South West
A pull apart ranchslider corner on the ground floor living space allows the downstairs living area to open up to the expansive timber deck.
Two downstairs bedrooms share a "jack and jill" bathroom.
The master having pride of place on the first floor, has a look through ensuite to make the most of the expansive views across the Firth to the Coromandel Ranges
Feature cladding including two types of Nu Wall Aluminium both vertical and horizontal. With the concrete tilt panels having an "off the board" timber texture on the outside and flat exposed finish to the inside
The owner has commented that he now spends more time there than he does at his home in town!
